Jay Healy

 

Jay graduated from UWF in May 1998 with a degree in Psychology.  He graduated magna cum laude with a 3.7 GPA.  After graduation, Jay attended DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois.  While in law school he was a member of the DePaul Law Review and was a Midwest regional finalist in the 2000 Moot Court Negotiation Competition.  In his last year of law school,  Jay externed for the Honorable William J. Bauer of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.  During law school, he was on the Dean’s List each semester and was awarded the top grade (“book award”) in nine of his classes.  He graduated from law school in May 2002, summa cum laude, Order of the Coif, with a 3.946 GPA.


After graduation, Jay started his legal career at Winston & Strawn LLP in Chicago, and is still working there today.  Winston & Strawn is one of the world’s largest and most respected law firms, with approximately 950 attorneys among 11 offices in Charlotte, Chicago, Geneva, London, Los Angeles, Moscow, New York, Newark, Paris, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.  Jay is an associate in the firm’s real estate department where he concentrates his practice on commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, leasing and real estate finance.  Some of his recent transactions include representing the seller of a 60-story mixed-use skyscraper for $263,000,000, representing the purchaser of 23 industrial properties for $130,000,000, and representing Wendy’s in its recent $2,300,000,000 sale to Arby’s.


Jay is married to Joanna (Chamberlain), who also graduated from UWF (1999) and was a member of UWF’s women’s soccer team.  They have a four-year-old daughter, Shannan, and are expecting a son in early November.
